Long Term Substitute Teacher- 4th Grade
Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports To: Human Resources and Building Principal
The position start date would be as soon as possible and go through the end of the school year.
BASIC FUNCTION:
In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress and manages the learning environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Follows professional practices consistent with school and system policies in working with students, students' records, parents and colleagues.
Maintains student confidentiality
Take accurate attendance records
Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities
Complies with Zion District #6 Board of Education policies and the administrative regulations for the State of Illinois
Conducts assigned class at the scheduled time
Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline
Dresses in a manner consistent with school policies
Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records and files
Demonstrates professional practices in teaching
Models correct use of oral and written language
Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt to curriculum needs of pupil
Administer group standardized tests
Create and teach or follow lesson plans as required by school policy
Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students
Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned by Principal or Assistant Principal

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have the necessary certification, license or permit required by state law to serve in a substitute teaching assignment. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Communicate effectively with children and adults.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.

Monitor and discipline students according to approved policies and procedures.

Ability to utilize safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Environment: School sites; indoor and outdoor settings.
Physical Abilities: Standing for extended periods of time; bending at the waist to assist students; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to monitor student activities and behavior; dexterity of hands and fingers to demonstrate activities and prepare materials.
Hazards: Contact (at times) with disgruntled individuals
Compensation is Long Term Substitute rate of $210.00 per day
