Salary: $20.66 - $41.34 HourlyLocation : Moore County, NCJob Type: ResourceJob Number: 2025139Department: Parks and RecreationOpening Date: 10/30/2025Closing Date: ContinuousEssential Job DutiesThis position officiates various sporting events, games, and competitions to maintain standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed, signals participants and other officials to make them aware of infractions and to regulate play, communicates effectively with recreation staff, coaches, and participants, and maintains a safe playing environment.Knowledge and Skill Requirements• Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs• Ability to inspect sporting equipment in order to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations• Ability to furnish proper uniform for each sport• Ability to concentrate on task for an extended period of time without being distracted• Ability to see details a distance• Ability to quickly and accurately make a judgement decision during the play of the games• Ability to maintain a safe playing environment• Ability to read and comprehend rules and regulations of the sports officiated• Ability to attend umpire/referee clinics• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, participants, staff, and the general publicEducation and Experience Requirements• Previous involvement in sports preferred but not requiredLicense, Certification, and Other Special Requirements• Must be at least 16 years of age• Must be available to work nights and weekendsThis is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for use of measuring devices, operation of machines or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; must be able to stand for long periods of time; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
