Data Platform Administration Architect
Overview
As Data Platform Administration Architect, you will own the stability, security, and scalability of the enterprise cloud data platforms, with a focus on Databricks and Azure services. You will lead architecture, governance, and operational excellence while partnering with engineering, security, and governance teams to ensure reliable, compliant platform operations. You will drive platform modernization, incident management, and CI/CD control to support data-driven business outcomes. This role offers the chance to shape platform standards and ensure high availability at scale.

ResponsibilitiesLead administration, architecture, governance, and operational support of enterprise data platformsManage and support Databricks, ADLS, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, ADF, and related Azure services across environmentsOwn platform reliability, performance, security, and operational excellenceDefine platform standards, environment strategies, monitoring, procedures, and governance controlsOversee Change Management and Release Management processes, including planning, scheduling, and rollback strategiesParticipate in CAB activities with technical risk assessments and deployment readinessLead production support activities: incidents, service requests, problem records, major incident managementPerform RCA investigations and implement preventative actionsDevelop runbooks, knowledge articles, escalation procedures, and disaster recovery plansEstablish operational KPIs including uptime, SLA compliance, MTTR, and health metricsImplement and govern CI/CD processes, deployment automation, and IaCEnsure compliance with security standards, access governance, audit requirements, and SOX controlsDrive platform modernization, automation, cost optimization, and continuous service improvementMentor platform engineers and provide architectural leadership
Key requirements10+ years in enterprise data platforms, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or data operationsHands-on experience with Databricks and Azure data platforms in productionDeep expertise with: Databricks; ADLS; Azure Synapse Analytics; Azure SQL; ADF; Azure DevOps; Azure IAM; Azure Monitor/Log AnalyticsProven experience as a Data Platform Administrator, Platform Architect, or Platform Operations LeadExperience standing up and securing production/non-production Databricks environmentsExperience with provisioning, capacity planning, workload management, performance tuning, cost optimization, and operational supportStrong monitoring, observability, alerting, and dashboard skillsProven incident, change, release, and problem management experience; ITIL-aligned processesExperience coordinating enterprise release management; rollback and post-release validationServiceNow or equivalent ITSM experience; incident/change/request managementOperational metrics, service-level reporting, trend analysis, and platform health dashboardsCI/CD automation, IaC, and Azure DevOps best practicesCloud governance, security, access management, and compliance controlsSOX-compliant or audit-driven environment experienceAbility to partner with infrastructure, security, networking, application, and business teamsProven leadership in managing platform, operations, or engineering teamsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related fieldstrong communication and stakeholder managementleadership and team mentorshipproblem-solving and analytical thinkingDatabricksAzure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)Azure Synapse Analytics
