Partnership Advisor, Water & Resilience
The Partnership Advisor, Water & Resilience is a two‑year, term‑limited position within the Impact Finance & Markets division of The Nature Conservancy. The role advises on strategy development for the Resilient Freshwater Pathway and manages key relationships with governments, multilateral agencies, and the corporate sector.
Responsibilities & Scope
May supervise a team of administrative and/or professional staff, overseeing performance management, training, and development.
Applies a varied knowledge of practices to support Conservation strategies.
Supports program objectives in a complex, matrixed organization and collaborates within a cross‑functional interdisciplinary team.
Develops relationships with corporate, finance, government, community, and NGO partners, potentially serving as a relationship manager.
Acts independently within broad program goals, leads management of multiple projects, and may serve as point person for a sector or value‑chain node.
Manages DFI trainings and engagements, collaborating with the Nature for Water Facility under Provide, and may serve as Subject Matter Expert on key DFI or corporate engagements.
Develops and implements multi‑year fundraising strategies and goals; may manage budget, negotiate contracts, and meet fundraising targets.
Participates in negotiations for complex, high‑profile, or sensitive agreements.
Conducts research to inform the Corporate Engagement and Resilient Watersheds teams’ functional strategy and activities, contributing to strategy development and strategic planning.
Leads internal and external discussion to develop institution‑level strategies and informs broader sector strategies.
Designs and manages major meetings, including gatherings of corporate, government, and NGO representatives.
Prepares and presents project proposals, communications documents, presentations, memos, concept notes, budgets, and reports.
Conveys the mission of TNC persuasively to varied audiences and represents TNC/CE at external speaking events and internal events.
Works in partnership with other organizations in a collaborative advisory capacity, representing TNC in collaborations and potentially serving on advisory boards.
Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and external requirements.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in political science, environmental policy, management, or a related field and 5 years of experience in a development finance institution, government relations, or corporate sector, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Fluency in English.
Analytical and project‑management experience; demonstrated success in developing and implementing complex projects in an unstructured environment.
Experience directing and managing multiple projects and driving strategic program goals.
Proven communication and presentation skills.
Proven negotiation skills.
Desired Qualifications
Multilingual skills, especially French, and multicultural experience.
Experience presenting to and communicating with management‑level individuals within the corporate sector.
Excellent teamwork, influence, interpersonal, listening, diplomacy, and tact in building strong relationships with governments, corporations, partners, donors, volunteers, and staff.
Experience engaging in drought, flooding, disaster risk management, or private financial institutions.
Salary Information
For U.S. based applicants only, the starting pay range is $95,000–$124,300 per year for annual base salary, based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. For all other applicants, pay ranges will be provided in local currency and determined by the local labor market.
