This role is a strategic partner with site leadership, field service, sales teams, and corporate EHS to ensure regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and employee engagement across a multi-site environment.Location(s): North America (multi-site)Business Function(s): Environment, Health & SafetyTravel Requirements: 25%Essential Duties: This role drives the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across North America, ensuring alignment with corporate standards while addressing regional and site-specific needs.EHS Strategy & GovernanceDevelop and implement the North America EHS strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirementsEnsure consistent application of corporate EHS programs while allowing for site-specific needsLeverage best practices and guidance from Corporate EHS to drive regional performanceTrack emerging regulatory requirements and develop proactive compliance strategiesRegulatory Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, and other applicable regulationsEstablish and manage DOT compliance programs for field service and sales organizationsConduct risk assessments, audits, and permit compliance reviews across sites and field operationsServe as primary regional liaison with external regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.)Fleet, Operations & Distribution Center SafetyDevelop and implement fleet safety programs integrated into daily field service and sales activitiesDrive operational safety programs across manufacturing, distribution centers, and service locationsPartner with Site Directors and Area Service Managers to embed safety into standard workPeriodically assess and validate site emergency response and preparedness plansIncident Prevention, Investigation & Continuous ImprovementChampion incident reduction through proactive hazard identification and mitigationLead incident investigations and root cause analyses; ensure corrective actions are tracked and closedImplement job safety analyses, pre-startup safety reviews, and learning-from-events processesPerform trend analysis using leading and lagging indicators to identify improvement opportunitiesTraining, Learning & Safety CultureDevelop and deliver safety, environmental, and leadership training programsOversee safety training systems and learning management system (LMS) effectivenessBuild and sustain a safety-first culture through influence, engagement, and leadership developmentSupport and coach safety committees, supervisors, and frontline leadersStakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional CollaborationAct as the EHS subject matter expert supporting sites, field service, sales, and corporate teamsCollaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement in EHS performanceLead regional participation in Corporate Collaboration Exchange initiativesManage customer and internal requests related to EHS, sustainability, product safety, and SDSsWorkers' Compensation, Security & Employee ProtectionManage safety-related aspects of workers' compensation programs, including claims, reporting, and return-to-workPartner with Corporate EHS to implement physical security measures protecting people, property, and informationSupport employee well-being through injury prevention and recovery-focused programsRequired Experience & Education:Bachelor's degree required; preference for Environmental Health & Safety or related fieldMinimum of 7 years of progressive EHS experience in a multi-site industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or transportation environment; 10 years of experience preferredProven experience in operations safety, fleet safety, and distribution center (DC) safetyDeep knowledge of DOT compliance, OSHA, EPA, and related EHS regulationsDemonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigationsStrong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for decision-making and performance improvementProven ability to train, coach, and communicate safety programs effectively across diverse teamsAbility to influence and achieve results through collaboration without direct authorityExcellent computer and systems proficiency; Tennant Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
