Marine Diesel Mechanic

Key Responsibilities:Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair marine diesel engines on a variety of vesselsPerform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspectionsService and repair propulsion systems, generators, fuel systems, and cooling systemsConduct engine overhauls and rebuilds as neededInspect vessels to identify mechanical issues and recommend repair solutionsRead and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic dataEnsure all work is completed in compliance with safety and environmental regulationsMaintain accurate service records and documentation of work performedCollaborate with yard team, captains, and project managers to meet deadlinesQualifications:3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic (marine experience preferred)Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines and vessel mechanical systemsExperience working on larger vessels (commercial or private yachts preferred)Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues independentlyFamiliarity with engine brands such as Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, or similar is a plusAbility to read schematics and technical documentationStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipPhysical Requirements:Ability to work in a boatyard environment, including confined spaces and varying weather conditionsCapable of lifting 50+ lbs and performing physically demanding tasksComfortable working on and around water and vessels
