We are seeking seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Screen Enclosure Layout Technician with CAD experience to support residential and commercial aluminum projects. This position is responsible for accurate field measurements, structural layout design, CAD drafting, and coordination with fabrication and installation teams. The ideal candidate combines strong technical drafting skills with hands-on construction knowledge.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Measurements & Layout
Conduct on-site measurements for screen enclosures, lanais, pool cages, and aluminum structures.
Verify elevations, roof tie-ins, slab conditions, and structural attachment points.
Identify potential design or installation challenges before fabrication.
Ensure all measurements are accurate and documented clearly.
CAD Drafting & Design
Create detailed CAD drawings for screen enclosures and related aluminum systems.
Prepare engineered layouts compliant with Florida building codes and wind load requirements.
Revise drawings based on engineering feedback or field changes.
Produce shop drawings for fabrication and permit submittals.
Project Coordination
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and installers.
Submit drawings for permitting when required.
Communicate material requirements to purchasing and fabrication departments.
Ensure layout accuracy prior to production and installation.
Quality Control
Review plans to ensure proper dimensions, materials, and structural components.
Confirm alignment with approved permits and engineered specifications.
Assist in resolving field discrepancies related to design or layout.
Qualifications
2+ years experience in screen enclosure or aluminum construction preferred.
2+ years experience using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar required).
Strong understanding of structural layout and construction methods.
Knowledge of Florida Building Code and wind load requirements preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and engineered drawings.
Valid driver’s license.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
Strong mathematical and measurement skills
Understanding of aluminum extrusion systems
Knowledge of permit-ready drawing preparation
