Mechanical Systems Design EngineerLocation: Sterling Heights, MIPay: $40–$43/hourWork Type: Onsite / Hybrid (up to 100% onsite as needed)Clearance: Ability to Obtain Secret | Active Clearance PreferredOverview:Seeking a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to support the design, development, and sustainment of vehicle subsystems including mechanisms, battery integration hardware, seating, lighting, doors/hatches, and driver controls for military vehicle platforms.Key Responsibilities:Develop 3D CAD concepts and detailed hardware designsSupport product development for mechanisms & actuation systemsEnsure designs meet technical, cost, and schedule requirementsCollaborate with engineering and drafting teams to release production-ready designsRelease models and drawings per ASME Y14.100Support manufacturing integration on prototype and production vehiclesAssist with testing, verification, and validation of hardwareLead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts for hardware issuesTravel to support other facilities or military installations as neededRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering3–5 years of product design engineering experienceProficiency with NX and/or Creo CAD softwareExperience with GD&T interpretation and applicationStrong Microsoft 365 skillsAbility to work overtime/weekends as neededPreferred:Experience in defense or aerospace industriesExperience with Teamcenter PLMActive DoD Security ClearanceStrong communication and organizational skillsWhy Join CPI?For over 40 years, Contract Professionals, Inc.
