UMB CURE Scholars Program STEM Programming Instructor The UMB CURE Scholars Program is a groundbreaking pipeline program that prepares middle and high school students from West Baltimore for competitive careers in healthcare and STEM fields. Scholars engage in hands-on learning, small-scale research investigations, and college and career readiness activities year-round. The CURE program also takes on a family-style approach, offering social emotional support services as well as community-building events and celebrations year-round. CURE is recruiting its 2023-2024 corps membership of full instructors, informal STEM educators, and para educators that can teach in-person at the middle and high school levels. Techers are needed for the following courses: 6th Grade Food Science (T/TH 3:30-5:30) 7th Grade Anatomy (T/TH 3:30-5:30) Duties include: 1. Carrying out provided lesson plans two times a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30pm). 2. If employed at a CURE partner school (Green Street Academy, Franklin Square Elementary/Middle School, Southwest Baltimore Charter School, or KIPP Academy) riding the bus with Scholars to and from partner schools to UMB (Middle school program only) and during field outings. 3. Managing the classroom. 4. Working with CURE staff to ensure accurate classroom attendance records 5. If employed at a CURE partner school, assisting in obtaining Scholars school data from (e.g., report cards and standardized test scores; updates family contact information; etc.). Schedule and Compensation: The program operates October 7, 2023-May 25, 2024, with a winter recess from mid-December to mid-January.
