Medical Secretary

The Medical Secretary is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient operation of the clinic. This role involves managing patient communications, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and supporting healthcare providers with day-to-day administrative tasks while delivering excellent patient service.Key ResponsibilitiesGreet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly mannerAnswer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls appropriatelySchedule, confirm, and manage patient appointmentsMaintain and update patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) systemVerify patient insurance and assist with basic billing inquiriesHandle incoming and outgoing correspondence (emails, faxes, mail)Assist with patient check-in and check-out processesEnsure patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulationsPrepare and organize documents for providers (charts, forms, referrals)Coordinate referrals, lab requests, and follow-upsMaintain a clean and organized front office areaQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred)Previous experience in a medical office or administrative role preferredKnowledge of medical terminology and office proceduresFamiliarity with EMR systems and scheduling softwareStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational and multitasking abilitiesBasic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email systems)Skills & CompetenciesAttention to detailCustomer service orientedTime management and prioritizationAbility to handle confidential informationProfessional demeanor and appearanceWork EnvironmentFast-paced medical office settingFrequent interaction with patients, providers, and staffMay require prolonged periods of sitting and computer useCompensation & Benefits(optional to include)Competitive hourly wage / salaryHealth benefits (if applicable)Paid time offOpportunities for growthPowered by JazzHR
