CAT III Portuguese / Brazilian Linguist Washington, DC 20010 Clearance: Must currently possess an active TS/SCI security clearance and be able to obtain a CI polygraph after hire (if not before)Schedule: Full-time, 9am-5pm, exible with travel 2-3 times per yearExperience: ILR 3 (Professional Working Pro ciency) in Portuguese (Brazilian) and English. Prior experience supporting DoD, IC, or federal government language programs. Experience working in austere or deployed settings; willingness to travel as mission dictates SUMMARY:Category III (CAT III) Portuguese/Brazilian Linguist provide high accuracy translation, interpretation, transcription, analysis, and cultural advisement in support of national security missions RESPONSIBILITIES:Consecutive interpretation and translation between Portuguese (Brazilian) and English during ongoing conversations, brie ngs, and intelligence collection activitiesReal time and non real time transcription and translation with emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and contextProduce idiomatic translations of non technical materials using correct syntax and expression; accurately interpret/translate colloquial and slang usageProvide cultural and ethnic context for translations and interpretations; advise users on cultural/ethnic signi cance of statements, conversations, situations, and documentsConduct document exploitation (DOMEX): scan, research, and analyze foreign language materials to identify and report intelligence informationSupplement interpretations/translations with profession speci c terminology (e.g., medical, scienti c, engineering, legal) when pertinentSupport mission requirements across oral reports, public addresses (non technical), and some oral technical reports; maintain accuracy under time constraintsMaintain strict con dentiality, comply with all security policies, and contribute to team work ows in dynamic operational environments QUALIFICATIONS: Required Quali cations:U.S. citizenship (required)Must currently possess an active TS/SCI security clearance and be able to obtain a CI polygraph after hire (if not already held)Must be a self-motivated, disciplined, and mature professional capable of operating with little tasking and oversightMust be capable of operating within a diverse environment and comfortable operating with limited guidance and oversight, maturity and self-motivation requiredILR Level 3 proficiency in both Portuguese (Brazilian)and EnglishUnderstand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect with a broad vocabulary, rarely requiring paraphrasing or explanationFollow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakersReasonably make and answer telephone calls in PortugueseUnderstand radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports, some oral technical reports, and public addresses on non technical subjects Desired Quali cations:Prior experience supporting DoD, IC, or federal government language programsPro ciency with translation tools and linguistic analysis software; experience with secure systems and work owsKnowledge of domain speci c terminology (e.g., medicine, scienti c, engineering, legal) and the ability to apply it correctly in interpretation/translationExperience working in austere or deployed settings; willingness to travel as mission dictates BENEFITS:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceFlexible scheduleHealth insuranceHealth Savings Account (HSA)Life insurancePaid time offParental leaveProfessional development assistanceReferral programRetirement planVision insurance We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are an organization that values diversity.
