The Team You Will Be JoiningA well-established and growing construction organization operating across multiple Southeastern markets with a strong backlog of DOT and heavy civil project work A highly visible accounting team supporting multiple operating entities and joint ventures in a fast-paced project-based environment Leadership with deep construction accounting and project controls experience that values operational partnership, accountability, and long-term team stability A collaborative corporate office environment supporting accounting, operations, estimating, engineering, and business development functions An organization entering its next projected growth cycle across North Carolina and Georgia following a period of operational stabilization LOCATION:Charlotte, NC | Hybrid flexibility after training (4 days onsite / Fridays remote) WHAT THEY OFFER YOU:Opportunity to own the entire AP function across multiple entities while remaining highly involved in day-to-day operations Direct exposure to executive leadership including the Controller, CFO, and company ownership Ability to help improve processes, communication flow, and operational efficiency within a growing accounting department Stable long-term opportunity with leadership focused on finding someone who wants to grow with the company through its next expansion cycle Flexible scheduling environment with strong autonomy once established in the role New corporate office environment opening this summer near the airport WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:Serves as the operational backbone of the accounts payable function across multiple construction entities and joint ventures Ensures vendor relationships, invoice processing, approvals, and payment workflows remain accurate, timely, and controlled Acts as the communication bridge between accounting, project teams, subcontractors, and vendors in a high-volume construction environment Provides hands-on leadership while mentoring and elevating junior AP staff Supports the organization’s continued growth by bringing structure, accountability, responsiveness, and process ownership to AP operations Helps leadership maintain strong vendor relationships and operational continuity across active project work THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:10+ years of progressive AP experience within large-scale or project-based environments, preferably construction or infrastructure Experience owning full-cycle AP processes including invoice routing, coding review, payment processing, vendor management, reconciliations, and ACH/wire verification Comfort operating in high-volume environments with frequent communication across field operations and project teams Strong understanding of job cost coding, subcontractor/vendor interaction, and construction-related AP workflows Highly proficient in Excel including Pivot Tables, XLookups, reconciliations, and data analysis Strong communication skills with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally and maintain strong customer service with vendors and operations teams Comfortable working through change, learning new systems, and operating in a fast-moving environment Hands-on “player-coach” mentality — not purely managerial, but someone willing to stay directly involved in execution and process ownership Thick-skinned, adaptable personality capable of navigating the pace and communication style often found within blue-collar operational environments Long-term mindset with interest in growing alongside an organization entering a major expansion phase Open
