TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); anticipated start date 07/01/2026; salary commensurate with experience.

The Director of Human Resources plans, coordinates, and supervises all personnel services to attract and retain quality staff, to enhance morale, to improve operational efficiency, and to maximize the educational benefits to our students and the community. The Director is responsible for participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of personnel-related programs, policies, and services.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Director of Human Resources reports to the Superintendent of Schools and supervises and evaluates the Substitute Coordinator, Benefits Coordinators, and the Executive Assistant to the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed as PHR or SPHR by the SHRM or Human Resources Certification Institute;
Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred, in Human Resources, Management, or a related field;
Successful administrative leadership experience;
Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution, negotiations, and labor relations;
Demonstrated ability in staff recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation;
Other comparable qualifications as the Superintendent may deem appropriate.
DUTIES
Works cooperatively with principals, directors, and coordinators in anticipating and planning for all personnel needs in the school system;
Develops, plans, and executes human resource strategy in support of the strategic direction of the district, specifically in the areas of talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, and compensation;
Provides strategic leadership in all areas of the human resources function in the interest of ensuring the district relates to all of its employees in a manner consistent with all of its stated values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion;
Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for recruiting, hiring and onboarding exceptional talent;
Partners with administrators, department leaders, and other hiring managers, and outside legal counsel, as needed, to conduct investigations and resolve issues
Determine and maintain a strategy for employee engagement (including programs such as stay and exit interviews) with attention to positive culture and organizational change
Certifies all classifications and salaries for the business office;
Recommends all transfers, assignments, non-renewals, dismissals, and promotions;
Provides oversight for district compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding teacher licensure and designation as highly qualified;
Gathers and maintains information for required annual Department of Education reports, such as EPIMS;
Provides background data and analysis for, and participates in, contract negotiations with collective bargaining groups and non-unit personnel, and serves as a member of the district team in negotiations;
Ensures legal compliance in all personnel-related areas;
Coordinates staff training and legal notifications as mandated by state and federal law;
Develops and maintains informational resources for staff members to access as needed
Oversees the PowerSchool Perform Evaluation system
Oversees maintenance of new staff lists, seniority lists, sick bank records, annual mandated training, and other Human Resources records
In conjunction with the building principals, ensures that all professional staff are appropriately licensed by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education;
Performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
WORK YEAR
This position is a year-round, 12-month position. On request, attend meetings of the school committee, its subcommittees, and/or meetings in support of bargaining or negotiations that could include nights and / or weekends.
