Production Planning Specialist
The Production Planning Specialist position is an important role on the Silgan Dispensing team and is a great opportunity for those looking to advance their skills. The Production Planning Specialist assists in the creation and regularly monitors overall supply plans to meet customer and business goals.ResponsibilitiesConvert purchase requisitions into purchase orders for all capital expensed purchases.Create new vendors in SAP for purchasing.Maintain and update vendor information.Accurately maintain purchasing records for selected vendors using SAP software in an ISO 9000 environment.Crosstrain in planning for assigned products, recognizing forecasted requirements and critical resources, with special coordination for new development projects.Maintain detailed MRP component build schedules to maximize manufacturing uptime for Dispensing manufacturing and vendor reliability.Communicate with Silgan personnel in a timely, clear, efficient, and appropriate method regarding all aspects of parts supply including delivery status, production schedules, lead times, revisions, and OTIF calculations.Work with planning, engineering, finance, and operations colleagues to record and transfer Silgan metal and molded part manufacturing capability records into SAP for capacity planning.Assist the finance team to solve invoicing issues with suppliers, confirm pricing, and approve charges.Place orders and act as primary contact with manufacturing subcontractors and assigned vendors to support the manufacturing plan.Identify customer requirements not on order and develop supply forecasts with customer service, sales, and manufacturing to best utilize production capacities.Manage schedules to achieve service level targets while maintaining inventory objectives.Work with warehouse personnel to accurately receive components into SAP interface with all company disciplines to ensure inventory accuracy.Ensure monthly Lean assignments are complete for all planning team members.Assist development and support integration of new SAP summaries, SIOP, and capacity information for local review and company-wide distribution as needed.Collect, build, and publish planning data as required to help improve manufacturing performance.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.5–7 years of experience in a high-volume, repetitive manufacturing organization.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment.Excellent time-management and organizational skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and SAP.Experience with SAP R3/BW planning and/or APICS certification is a plus.Preferred ExperienceAbility to work independently and be proactive.Analytical skills to interpret and report data.Strong prioritization abilities.Physical DemandsReasonable accommodations are available.
