CNC 5-Axis Machinist / Setup OperatorThis role involves setting up and operating 5-axis DMG CNC machines to produce precision parts of various sizes, ensuring high-quality output through accurate setup, careful program edits, and thorough inspection. You will work with blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to manufacture components to exact specifications while maintaining the equipment in optimal condition.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate 5-axis DMG CNC machines to produce precision parts of various sizes.Perform an average of three complete machine setups per shift, including fixturing, tooling, and workpiece alignment.Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to determine machining requirements and ensure parts meet design specifications.Perform G and M code program edits to refine machining operations and improve part quality and efficiency.Carry out tool changes and offsets as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify that all dimensions and tolerances meet quality standards.Document inspection results and communicate any nonconformances or issues to the appropriate personnel.Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including filter changes, oil changes, and basic upkeep to ensure reliable operation.Monitor machine performance during production runs and make adjustments to maintain consistent quality and throughput.Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.Essential SkillsAt least 2 years of CNC setup experience, including performing offsets and tool changes.At least 2 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.At least 2 years of experience performing G and M code program edits.At least 2 years of experience performing quality checks using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.At least 2 years of experience working with CNC mills or lathes.Ability to interpret CAD files and translate them into accurate machining operations.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precision components.Ability to troubleshoot and adjust machining processes to resolve dimensional or quality issues.Solid understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, and workholding.Ability to follow safety procedures and standard operating instructions.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience setting up and operating a lathe is a plus.Experience with a turn-mill machine is a plus.Familiarity with 5-axis DMG CNC machines or similar advanced CNC equipment.Comfort working with CAD-driven workflows and technical documentation.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Good communication skills to collaborate with team members in production and quality.Why Work Here?You will work with modern CNC equipment in a setting that values precision, continuous improvement, and craftsmanship.
