Inside Sales Representative
ABOUT PECO
Process Engineering & Equipment Company (PECO) is the premier supplier of mechanical equipment in West Michigan, representing many of the industry’s top manufacturers of fluid handling, filtration, and heat transfer products. Operating from our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility with a team of approximately 42 employees, PECO is known for professionalism, technical competence, and long-term stability — our sales team is exceptionally steady, with many professionals building decades-long careers here. As our business continues to grow, we are strengthening our sales support team by adding an Inside Sales Representative to work directly with customers, vendors, and our outside sales and engineering teams.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Inside Sales Representative is the day-to-day engine behind PECO’s sales activity — the person customers and vendors reach when they need a quote, an order, a part, or an answer. Working closely with the outside sales team, engineering, and our manufacturers, this individual prepares quotes and takeoffs, enters and tracks orders, chases down parts and lead times, and keeps every project moving from first inquiry through delivery. It is a fast-paced, customer-facing role built for someone energetic, organized, and eager to learn the equipment we sell. Product knowledge in boilers, pumps, and HVAC equipment is helpful but not required — full training is provided, and the position offers a clear path to grow into outside sales for the right person.
QUOTING, ORDERS & CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Prepare quotes and pricing for equipment and parts — chillers, air handlers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and related products — including takeoffs and submittals on bid/spec projects.
Enter, process, and track orders from receipt through delivery; confirm pricing, terms, and ship dates, and keep customers informed of status.
Source and track parts — identify the right components, check availability and lead times, expedite when needed, and follow up until the part is in the customer’s hands.
Review bid and spec projects posted online; perform takeoffs, pricing, and submittals in coordination with the outside sales team.
Provide responsive, professional customer service by phone and email — answer questions, provide follow-up, and resolve issues in a timely, friendly manner.
Support customers with equipment selection and technical questions, pulling in engineering and the outside sales team on complex HVAC and mechanical equipment projects.
COORDINATION WITH SALES, ENGINEERING & VENDORS
Back up the outside sales team — handle pricing, technical support, and project coordination so reps can stay focused in the field.
Work with engineering to confirm equipment selections, specifications, and application details before quotes and orders go out.
Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers on pricing, availability, lead times, order status, and returns; build strong working relationships with our supplier partners.
Keep project and account information organized and up to date so the whole team has an accurate view of open quotes and orders.
Work as part of the team to make sure customer and project needs are met on time and communicated clearly across sales, engineering, and operations.
Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (and our order/ERP system) for daily quoting, correspondence, and order tracking.
