Pay depends on factors including site location, specialty, certifications, work experience, and other business needs.Role and ResponsibilitiesThe lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of the swimming pool environment and must closely monitor and rescue swimmers.Specific ResponsibilitiesProject and promote a professional imageExplain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patronsRescue swimmers in need of assistanceDemonstrate proper rescue techniques, including but not limited to, swimming rescues, First Aid, and CPRAdminister emergency care to patrons in need of assistanceMonitor activities of patrons in the water and on deck and minimized the possibility of patron injuryConduct routine chemical test of the water on an hourly basisKeep accurate records of incident reports, maintenance, and chemical testingPerform routine maintenance of pool and pool equipmentEffectively supervise the swimming area from an elevated Lifeguard chairAttend all in-service trainingsAdminister emergency care to members and guests in need of assistanceWork as a TEAM with all other departmentsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorOther FunctionsBe knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active WellnessPromote club services and activitiesPerform routine maintenance of equipmentAssist with keeping the club well stocked and cleanAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingsHandle injury and illness and security incident reportingQualificationsQualifications and Education RequirementsLifeguards must maintain the following:American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent training).American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent training).American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or equivalent training).Performance test are as follows:Swim 300 yards continuousTread water for two minutes using legs onlyDemonstrate the proper use of rescue equipmentPerform aquatic rescue & CPR/AED skillsMust be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer serviceStrong verbal communication skillsAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryAED/CPR/First Aid CertifiedProof of citizenship or legal statusPhysical and Working ConditionsAbility to take the responsibility for the health and safety of othersAbility to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbsFitness club environmentMust follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standardsBenefitsHealth, Dental and Vision Insurance (Full Time)Health Flexible Spending Account (Full Time)Paid Time Off (Full Time)Parking & Transit Flexible Spending Accounts401(k) (Eligible after 1 year of service + 1000 work hours)Legal Support PlanEmployee Assistance Program & Mental Health Support ServiceComplimentary Club Membership and Discounts on Active Products (where applicable)This job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
