We are building more than great places to live – we’re creating vibrant communities and meaningful careers.The OpportunityAs a Payroll Specialist you are responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations. You support employees by resolving payroll-related inquiries, maintaining accurate payroll records, and onboarding new hires.You are detail oriented, deadline driven, and experienced in multistate payroll processing. You also bring strong technical skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to confidentiality, with the ability to manage routine payroll functions while contributing to process improvements.Compensation: $75,000 to $85,000 annually, based on your experience, plus 10% annual bonus potential.Schedule: Monday through Friday, in-office role.We are looking for hands-on payroll processing experience (high volume 300+ non-exempt). Multi-state experience a plus.What You’ll OwnPayroll ProcessingProcess bi-weekly/semi‑monthly payroll for multi‑state employee populationsReview time sheets, commission and bonus calculations, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations (including wage and hour laws)Build and maintain positive relationships with onsite management providing support to ensure timely payroll processing Process pay adjustments and post information to designated records Compute wages and deductions, entering data into appropriate software programs Keep up to date record for all employee time off, including sick, vacation and leaves of absence Administer garnishments, tax levies, benefits deductions, and retirement contributionsSort and send out paychecks to all locations New Hire OnboardingProcess onboarding for new employees and employment changes; entering employee information into the HRIS/payroll system Send out new hire communications to assist new hires with their transition into the companyEmployee Records & ReportingMaintain all personnel records ensuring compliance Maintain accurate payroll records, audits, and reportsReconcile payroll reports and general ledger entriesRun reports and auditing data as needed Support year-end processes including W‑2s, audits, and payroll reconciliationsRespond to and resolve employee payroll questionsAssist with payroll system updates, testing, and process improvementsWhat You BringExperience supporting hourly and salaried employees in a mid- to high-volume environmentStrong knowledge of payroll processes and wage and hour complianceExperience with multi‑state payroll and tax regulationsAbility to meet deadlines and work under time constraints, especially during payroll cyclesHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailProficiency with payroll systems Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, reconciliations, data validation)Ability to interpret payroll policies, procedures, and regulationsStrong problem‑solving and analytical skillsExcellent organizational and time‑management abilitiesProfessional, discreet handling of confidential informationClear written and verbal communication skillsBenefits, Leave of Absence, Workers Comp and Union experience is a plusQualificationsHigh school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred2–4 years of payroll processing experience (mid‑volume or higher preferred)ADP WorkForce Now experience preferred ADP Enhanced Time (Enterprise eTIME) experience preferred Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) experience required ADP or other payroll certification preferred We’ve Got You Covered!Medical, Dental & Vision: Highlights include company-paid individual PPO-HSA plan (with $1,200 annual employer contribution); HMO options for California residents.
