The Maintenance/Groundskeeper will primarily maintain the Fallen Timbers Environmental Center grounds, buildings, and complete miscellaneous projects at the center throughout the calendar year.Essential FunctionsOperating various light machinery including but not limited to: push lawn mowers, riding lawn mowers, ATV’s, tractors, brush hogs, chain saws, and wood splittersCutting, clearing, and removing brush from various locations on the 456 acre propertyMaintaining the trail system including grooming ski trails, trail mowing, and general improvementTransporting wood, vehicles, and other items with a trailer on and off the Fallen Timbers propertyTrimming shrubs and treesRemoving snow around buildings and on service vehicle roadsAssisting the Director with miscellaneous maintenance and programming needsRemoving leaves from the grounds in the fallRepairing and maintaining machinery on the propertyCutting, splitting, stacking, and transporting firewood Supervising assistant maintenance/groundskeeper and volunteersPerforming other functions as they ariseAssists with performing a variety of general maintenance, painting, basic carpentry, and basic plumbing tasks during the summer months, working under the direction of the facilities coordinator. Performs limited grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming lawns and hedges and cleaning snow from sidewalks. May move and arrange furniture and equipment. Loads unloads, picks up, and delivers parcels, food, and supplies as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. RequirementsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Experience, Education And LicensureTechnical college degree preferredPrior experience in a similar positionSmall engines training Advanced mechanical skills Plumbing skillsElectrical skillsBasic computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, and faxingRequired Skills And AbilitiesBasic carpentry and mechanical skillsAdvanced small engine knowledge Felling trees and tree removalOperation and upkeep of various types of machineryAdvanced knowledge of plumbing and electrical wiringWork EnvironmentWORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Work a total of 10-15 hours/weekPrimarily outdoors and occasionally inside buildings at Fallen TimbersIndependent and collaborative projects Outdoor work in all seasons and weather conditionsPhysical DemandsFrequent lifting of objects up to 75 poundsWorking in all weather conditions Operating machinery for 6 hours or longer.
