Salary : $87,147.70 - $105,928.54 AnnuallyLocation : Santee, CAJob Type: Full-Time with BenefitsJob Number: 2026-0310Department: Community Services DepartmentDivision: Recreation DivisionOpening Date: 03/10/2026The PositionUpcoming Scheduled Salary Increase of 3% Effective July 2026Under general direction of the Recreation Services Manager in the Community Services Department, the Park & Landscape Supervisor plans, organizes and supervises the development and maintenance of park grounds, recreation facilities, the urban forest, landscape maintenance districts, parkways, medians, walkways, open space and other landscaped areas; and performs related duties as required.~This is a non-telecommuting position~Representative DutiesThe following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.Prepares contract documents;Evaluates contractors' bids and monitors their conformance with bid specifications;Reviews and inspects private and public landscape and facility plans and projects, landscape maintenance district plans and projects, park development and median island plans and projects and other capital improvement plans and projects;Plans and coordinates the repair and general maintenance of facility, median, park and playground equipment and performs routinely scheduled site inspections for purposes of identifying unsafe conditions, deficient contractor performance, and proactive identification of site improvements;Supervises landscape and irrigation maintenance workers;Coordinates the purchasing of equipment and supplies for parks;Maintains City tree inventory;Administers work orders for tree trimming contractors based on visual inspections;Responds to and investigates citizen complaints, makes recommendations for solutions and coordinates required work;Oversees the use of pesticide application within parks and landscaped areas throughout the city;Coordinates annual pesticide handler's training;Assists in the preparation of the departmental budget and budget control; andPerforms other duties as assigned.~ For the complete job description, please go to the City of Santee's website at www.cityofsanteeca.gov~Minimum QualificationsAny combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this classification. An example would be:EDUCATION: Two (2) years of college level course work in Landscape Technology, Irrigation Technology, or a related field; andEXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of professional experience in landscape maintenance, including two (2) years of full-time supervisory or lead experience.Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.Public sector experience is desirable.The following certifications are required within 12 months of hire date:Qualified Applicator Certification (QAC) issued by the State of CaliforniaISA (International Society of Arboriculture) ArboristCertified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)Recycled Water Site SupervisorEVALUATION PROCESS: This recruitment is open until filled, so interested applicants are encouraged to apply immediately. A safe driving record is required and must be maintained during period of employment.City of Santee employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect.
