Our team of AI researchers and company builders come from DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Brain, Meta, Character.AI, Anthropic and beyond.Role OverviewAs Controller, you’ll build the accounting function from the ground up. You own the close, technical accounting, financial reporting, and the internal controls that make all of it trustworthy. You’ll navigate complex deal structures across sovereign and enterprise contracts, manage the external audit relationship, and oversee equity accounting as our programs scale. You’ll own tax compliance and strategy, partner with legal and finance on entity structure, and build the accounting and tax teams beneath you. This role reports to the VP of Finance.What You'll DoOwn the month-end and quarter-end close — accuracy, timeliness, and improving bothLead all technical accounting determinations: revenue recognition, equity, leases, and novel deal structuresOwn global tax strategy, planning, and compliance — federal, state, and internationalManage the external audit relationship end-to-end; own the audit timeline and deliverablesBuild and maintain internal controls and financial reporting infrastructurePartner with legal on entity structure and transfer pricingOversee AP, AR, payroll, and treasury operationsBuild the accounting and tax teams beneath youWhat We're Looking For7-10+ years of relevant finance and accounting experienceCPA required; Big 4 background strongly preferredDeep technical accounting expertise — ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 842, ASC 360 and the judgment to handle what's not in the textbookExperience owning a close process and an audit at a high-growth technology companyDemonstrated ability to build an accounting function from scratch, including team, systems, and processesComfortable navigating ambiguity in deal structures and translating complexity into clear accounting positionsStrong technical foundation in federal and international tax, with exposure to multi-entity or multinational structuresInternational experience, including transfer pricing and cross-border operationsWhat We OfferWe believe that to build superintelligence that is truly open, you need to start at the foundation.
