If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles or less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework.ResponsibilitiesDirect legislative policy and budget agenda for assigned administration(s).Lead major policy and legislative change initiatives across the agency.Provide lead work and mentoring to assigned legislation liaisons and coordinators.Strengthen and manage relations related to legislative initiatives, DHS legislative process, and community priorities.Act as representative of the agency at legislative and community meetings.Interpret legislative language and draft Governor's policy and budget bills, as well as technical assistance for community partners.Minimum QualificationsTo facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.Four (4) years advanced level policy analysis experience with direct engagement in the legislative process.Experience facilitating consensus among many parties that represent diverse points of view.Organization, tracking, prioritizing, and understanding large amounts of information.Advanced level policy analysis experience supported by relevant experience to monitor and develop policy recommendations and long-term financial strategies.Understanding of statutory, session law, and administrative rule construction and interpretation, with some experience drafting legislation.Public speaking experience and presentation skills to effectively present policy, legislative, and other information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Preferred QualificationsExtensive experience engaged in the Minnesota legislative process with a focus on health and human services.A Master's degree in public affairs, public policy law, or similar area of study.Extensive knowledge and experience working on public policy development for Medicaid and related human services programs.Strong communication skills and experience presenting to leadership executives, community organizations, and legislators.Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.Additional RequirementsReference checks and a criminal background check will be conducted prior to appointment.How to ApplySelect "Apply for Job" at the top of the page.
