Instructional Design Consultant
JOB SUMMARYThis role is for a Business Consulting Senior Consultant based in the San Jose, CA Bay Area, requiring 100% onsite presence. The position involves leveraging industry-standard instructional design methodologies and e-learning development tools to conduct comprehensive training analyses, develop instructional strategies, and create a variety of training materials and programs. The consultant will be responsible for designing learning solutions for different formats, developing courseware from subject matter expert input, defining learning objectives, and writing engaging scripts. Additionally, the role includes utilizing authoring applications, designing audiovisual elements, understanding the production lifecycle, and evaluating instructional programs with mitigation strategies.Key Responsibilities• Conduct training needs, audience, and content analysis.• Develop appropriate instructional strategies, implement performance measurement tools, and create training program materials including flowcharts, storyboards, visual aids, participant manuals, job/task aids, and user guides.• Design a variety of instructional materials for traditional instructor-led courses, online programs, web-based learning aids or products, and other programs as needed.• Develop course materials based on information provided by subject matter experts.• Create outcome-based objectives for learning or performance for students and instructors.• Write scripts featuring introductions, body, transitions, and summaries in a conversational, active voice aligned with target audience comprehension levels.• Utilize a variety of authoring and software applications for developing web-based instruction.• Develop audiovisual display designs, including screen layouts and human-machine interfaces, along with course support materials and documentation.• Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between storyboard production and courseware production.• Develop and implement formative and summative evaluation plans for instructional programs and processes.• Determine appropriate mitigation strategies to address findings from instructional program evaluations.Required Qualifications• 5+ years of experience in learning strategies, structured methods, and approaches to meet business schedule and budget objectives.• 5+ years of Instructional Design experience, including working with e-learning integration standards and building e-learning courseware.• 2+ years of experience developing courseware using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent tools, as well as emerging development tools like video, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality tools and platforms.
