Job SummaryThe Youth Development Specialist is responsible for supporting youth in their educational, life skills, and career development journeys. This role plays a vital part in empowering young people to build leadership skills, explore postsecondary opportunities, and engage in meaningful cultural and educational experiences.The Youth Development Specialist will plan, organize, and actively participate in youth-centered activities, including facilitating the Youth Leadership Group and accompanying youth to cultural and educational events such as college tours.This is a one-year contracted position.Key Responsibilities/ActivitiesProvide individualized guidance and support to youth in areas of education, career readiness, and life skills developmentPlan, coordinate, and facilitate youth programming and group activities, including the Youth Leadership GroupOrganize and participate in cultural, educational, and enrichment activities, including college tours and campus visitsFoster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages youth engagement and leadershipCollaborate with program staff and community partners to enhance youth development opportunitiesMaintain accurate documentation and reports related to youth participation and program activitiesOther duties as assignedMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree required; Associate degree considered with experienceExperience planning and organizing recreational activitiesOrganizational, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to develop working relationships with children, teens and adults using good interpersonal skillsAbility to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and some weekendsAbility to travel in and around the metropolitan New York City region and out of stateAbility to maintain composure and function well under stressA clean New York state driver’s license to assist with driving youth on activities, college tours and taking them to collegeSalary RangeBachelors - $27.477/hr - $28.57/hrBachelors (Bilingual)- $28.57/hr - $29.67/hrMasters - $28.02/hr - $31.59/hrMasters (Bilingual) - $29.12/hr - $32.69/hrMasters (Bilingual & License) - $35.43/hr Location: 6735 112 th St, Forest Hills, NY 11375 Additional Information Forestdale Inc. is an equal opportunity employer that is proudly committed to becoming an anti-racist and multicultural organization that stands up for justice and equity.
