On call, with 2-3 call shifts per month and potential for callbacks and holidays based on unit needs. Must be able to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts.Job DescriptionThe X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs, ensuring the highest quality diagnostic images are produced for interpretation by Radiologists. The role requires explaining procedures to patients, safely handling radiologic equipment, and maintaining accurate patient records.Responsibilities Verify patients' identity and review physician orders prior to procedures. Use x-ray equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address their inquiries. Position patients appropriately, including assisting those with limited mobility. Ensure patient radiation dose is kept as low as reasonably achievable. Monitor patient status and provide age-specific care as needed. Promptly report any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment. Utilize electronic patient information systems for accurate patient record-keeping. Adhere to dual patient identifier procedures to ensure patient safety.Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology. Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). NYS license (or eligibility to obtain license prior to starting). Minimum of 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience. Experience in a Level 1 trauma center. Recent OR experience (within the last 8 months) is required.
