Nurse PractitionerThe Nurse Practitioner in the correctional setting provides health care services to incarcerated individuals within the scope of their license. The Nurse Practitioner performs physical examinations, diagnostic testing, assessments/health screenings, prescribes medications, and educates inmates on health prevention/promotion, medical conditions, and treatment.Minimum Requirements:Current Nurse Practitioner Certification and license in the state of practice requiredCertification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited nursing organization (e.g. American Academy of Nurse Practitioners – AANP, American Nurses Credentialing Center – ANCC) is preferredSpecialty Certification as per client request and or state regulations if applicableOne year experience as an NP preferredOne year of correctional experience preferredMaintain collaboration agreements, per state requirementsComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsMust be at least 18 years of age
