The Role:
We are seeking a Tax Accountant to join our growing team in a hybrid capacity based in Greenville, NC. This role is ideal for someone with at least two tax seasons of business return experience who enjoys ownership of their work, values accuracy and process, and communicates confidently with clients.
You’ll work closely with our team, preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns while contributing to planning, process improvement, and client success.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review individual (1040) and business tax returns, including 1065, 1120S, and 1120, plus state filings
Identify tax issues, perform research, and apply sound professional judgment
Support tax planning through projections, estimated taxes, and entity considerations
Review financial statements and understand book-to-tax differences
Maintain clear documentation, workpapers, and return support
Communicate directly with clients to request information, explain tax outcomes, and manage expectations
Manage deadlines, organize work efficiently, and drive engagements from start to finish
Collaborate with bookkeeping and advisory team members to ensure alignment and accuracy
Required Experience & Skills:
Minimum 2+ tax seasons preparing business tax returns with an accounting firm
Strong technical tax compliance skills
Ability to prepare complex individual and business returns with minimal supervision
Solid understanding of closely held business and individual tax issues
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management
Professional, client-ready communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or EA (or actively pursuing)
Experience with multi-state and higher-complexity returns
Comfort reviewing or coaching staff work
Process-driven mindset with an interest in improving workflows and efficiency

QuickBooks Online and Desktop
Excel (sorting, filtering, pivots, reconciliations)
