Position: Manual Machinist Location: Los Angeles, California Work Type: On-site Years of Experience: 10+ years Job Type: Regular Full-time / ContractPosition OverviewThe Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders to produce precision metal components. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to strict quality and safety standards.Core ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill pressesInterpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirementsMeasure and inspect parts using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gaugesSelect appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material specificationsMaintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet quality standardsTroubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustmentsPerform routine maintenance on machines and equipmentDeburr, clean, and finish machined parts as requiredMaintain accurate production and quality documentationFollow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspaceKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Accuracy in maintaining specified tolerancesProductivity and on-time completion of machining tasksQuality of finished parts and defect reductionEquipment maintenance and uptimeCompliance with safety standardsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical/trade certification preferred10+ years of experience operating manual machining equipmentStrong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materialsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and schematicsProficiency with precision measuring instrumentsBasic math skills including geometry and trigonometryStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in manufacturing or aerospace environmentsFamiliarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)Ability to operate multiple types of manual machinesWork EnvironmentManufacturing/shop setting with exposure to machinery and industrial noiseWork around moving mechanical partsRequired use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe bootsThis is a remote position.
