This paid engineering internship provides hands-on experience working alongside licensed structural engineers and project managers on real-world projects including water treatment plants, educational facilities, university buildings, environmental structures, and infrastructure projects. You'll gain practical experience in structural analysis, structural design, construction observation, and project coordination while developing the technical and professional skills needed for a successful engineering career.ResponsibilitiesAssist with structural analysis, engineering calculations, and design development under the guidance of licensed engineersSupport the preparation and review of structural drawings, specifications, technical reports, and construction documentsParticipate in construction observation, site visits, and field reporting to verify work conforms to project requirementsReview construction submittals, shop drawings, and material requests for compliance with project plans and specificationsAssist with project documentation, data management, filing, scanning, and other administrative support activitiesUtilize engineering software and design tools to support project planning, analysis, and documentationBasic RequirementsCompletion of at least three semesters towards a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or related fieldMinimum GPA of 3.0Strong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to travel as requiredAll applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulationsPhysical QualificationsAbility to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrainAbility to work in adverse weather conditionsAbility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of timeOccasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twistOccasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weightMay require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 poundsAbility to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
