Controls EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and maintain industrial control systems that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and processes. The role focuses on PLC-based automation, control system integration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to meet production and quality targets.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, program, and commission PLC-based control systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent).Develop and update control system documentation including ladder logic, function block diagrams, I/O lists, and wiring diagrams.Integrate PLCs with HMI/SCADA systems and other plant networks to enable monitoring and data collection.Perform system testing, start-up support, and on-site debugging to ensure reliable operation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, process engineering, and operations) to implement control solutions and process improvements.Implement and maintain safety interlocks, fault diagnostics, and emergency shutdown systems in compliance with standards.Provide technical support and troubleshooting for control system failures and unexpected process behavior.Participate in project planning, cost estimation, and schedule management for control system upgrades and new installations.Train operators and maintenance personnel on system operation, troubleshooting, and best practices.Maintain version control and backup procedures for control system software and documentation.QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).3+ years experience in industrial control systems engineering with hands-on PLC programming and commissioning.Strong knowledge of PLC programming languages (ladder logic, structured text, function block) and control system architectures.Experience with HMI/SCADA systems, industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, OPC), and networked control systems.Familiarity with industrial safety standards and practices (e.g., NFPA 79, IEC 61508/61511) and implementation of safety interlocks or E-stop systems.Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical and control system faults.Ability to read and produce electrical schematics, P&IDs, and I/O documentation.Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical training.Willingness to support field commissioning and occasional travel to manufacturing sites.
