Working out of our recently renovated, technologically advanced "Suite 100" a collaborative workplace environment in Germantown, MD, you will oversee and drive the future of our electrical design practice.In this executive-level technical role, you will:Lead and Mentor: Direct the Electrical Department, providing mentorship, resource management, and high-level QA/QC for all electrical team members to ensure constructible, biddable, and flawless design documents.Innovate & Drive Sustainability: Spearhead Net Zero strategies, LEED integration, and the implementation of advanced technologies to solve complex architectural challenges.Collaborate & Represent: Serve as a primary technical liaison with high-profile architectural clients, government agencies, and facility owners. Partner closely with our Mechanical and Plumbing leaders to ensure seamless multidisciplinary coordination.Execute Design Excellence: Oversee and perform high-level engineering assessments, prepare comprehensive reports, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.Manage Construction: Guide the team through the construction administration phase (submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and closeouts), ensuring our designs are executed flawlessly in the field.Technical Focus: Building Systems Mastery You will guide the team's design and specification of complex systems, including:Power Distribution: Normal, emergency, and critical power systems (including short circuit, arc flash coordination, and equipment sizing).Advanced Lighting: High-efficiency interior and exterior lighting design, daylighting, and automated multi-level lighting control systems.Life Safety: Complex fire alarm systems, mass notification, and life safety lighting.Low Voltage & Technology: A/V systems, telecommunications, broadband, LAN/Data, and specialized security/video networks.Sustainable Technologies: Energy modeling, Net Zero design, and stringent energy code compliance (ASHRAE 90.1, IECC).Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (BAE), Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE).Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) License is strictly required.Experience: 10 -15+ years of progressive design and leadership experience within the MEP Consulting / Architectural-Engineering industry. Previous experience managing an electrical team, reviewing workloads, and directing engineering staff is highly preferred.Certification: LEED accreditation is highly desirable; RCDD is a strong plus.Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required due to the secure nature of our federal government projects.Communication: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills. You must be comfortable presenting to clients, leading coordination meetings, and mentoring junior engineers.Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD. High proficiency with electrical/lighting analysis software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, AGi32).
