Senior Estimator

DescriptionPrepare a variety of estimates/bids, including GMP and lump-sum.Perform estimating duties including quantity take-offs, database input, coordination of bid documents for distribution to Subcontractors, research of product data and suppliers.Can develop complex conceptual estimates.Ensure the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently, and client expectations are exceeded throughout the duration of the project.Manage and lead Owners, the design team, and design-assist trade partners during preconstruction projects. This includes creating and managing preconstruction schedules and preliminary construction schedules, managing the Target Value Design process, providing a variety of estimate updates throughout design development, performing constructability reviews, and finalizing the project budget.Effectively facilitate collaboration among team members and communicate with all stakeholders.Review and manage Request for Proposals (RFP's) from Owner's and prepare and distribute RFP's to bidders.Review project plans, requirements, and specifications.Prepare subcontractor bid lists and coordinate subcontract solicitations.Organize subcontractor job walks.Ensure that bidders have a complete set of bid documents, including alternates, and that their bid is filled in a timely manner as well as meet and maintain bidding and work schedules.Interface with a wide variety of professionals including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.Ensure proper handoff of final estimate to Operations team. This includes reviewing the estimate, allowances, contingencies, proposed subcontractors, inclusions, and exclusions with the Operations team.Build relationships to understand client, designer and subcontractor needs and expectationsHelp to develop skills of Assistant Estimators and Estimators.Periodically participate in business development activities, presentations and interviews.Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing.Determine labor and construction equipment costs.RequirementsBachelor's degree (preferably in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Project Engineer or equivalent.Minimum 5 years' experience in estimating.Excellent knowledge of design development, estimating, construction drawings, costs and principles.Excellent knowledge/experience with various types of construction, including core & shell and tenant improvement projects.Can estimate structural concrete, structural & miscellaneous steel and rough carpentry.Strong computer skills with the ability to use MS Office with proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as estimating software.Being able to develop project schedules is a plus, but not a requirement.Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing.Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations.Highly analytical, versatile, extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
