As a Cyber Security Project Engineer, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter.HOW A CYBER SECURITY PROJECT ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:Incident Response & CoordinationLead and support enterprise-wide incident response activities.Coordinate incident response functions within cloud environments.Produce after-action reviews and incident reports for technical and non-technical audiences.Threat Detection & AnalysisCollect and analyze intrusion artifacts to support mitigation efforts.Receive, triage, and investigate network alerts from multiple sources.Monitor external threat intelligence to assess potential enterprise impact.Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.Forensics & Evidence HandlingConduct initial, forensically sound image collection and analysis.Preserve evidence integrity in accordance with standards and procedures.Documentation & Knowledge SharingDevelop and publish cyber defense techniques, guidance, and incident findings.Contribute to enterprise knowledge bases and security best practices.WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:Education: Bachelors (Computer engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline)Required Experience: 8+ yrsRequired Technical Skills:Incident Response & Cyber DefenseIncident response methodologies, categories, and timelines.Cyber defense policies and procedures.Ability to perform damage assessments and determine remediation paths.Threat Detection & Intrusion AnalysisIntrusion detection methodologies for host and network environments.Experience using security event correlation tools.Understanding of attack classes, attack stages, and adversary behaviors.Malware & Vulnerability AnalysisMalware analysis concepts and containment techniques.Ability to identify, capture, contain, and report malware.Skill in recognizing and categorizing vulnerabilities and associated attacks.Network & System SecurityKnowledge of network security architecture, topology, and communication principles.Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, directory services).Familiarity with network services, interactions, and secure communications.Knowledge of system administration, OS hardening, and application security threats.Cloud SecurityUnderstanding of cloud service models and how they affect incident response capabilities.Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI with active polygraphRequired Certifications: One of - CEH(P, ECIH, GRID, RCCE Level 1, CBROPS, CCSP, CEH, Cloud+, FITSP-O, GCED, GCIH, GSEC, PenTest+, Security+Preferred Certifications: Board certified in relevant security programs (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, NCSF, CAP); Professional certifications in cloud technologies - Amazon and Microsoft Azure; Understanding of FISMALocation: McLean, VA - On Customer SiteGDIT IS YOUR PLACE:401K with company matchComprehensive health and wellness packagesInternal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your careerProfessional growth opportunities including paid education and certificationsCutting-edge technology you can learn fromRest and recharge with paid vacation and holidaysThe likely salary range for this position is $152,113 - $205,799. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
