Structural Analyst responsible for performing strength assessments and finite element analysis on tooling and ground support equipment for a component test group, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and cost goals.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform strength assessments using classical analysis and FEA for tooling and GSEDocument and review stress analyses to enable release of engineering drawings and related documentationMentor tooling designers on best practices in stress, stability, and fracture analysisProvide technical guidance on design concepts, including risk, cost, and performance trade-offsSupport cross-functional teams with input for design development, analysis, and trade studiesLead conceptual and detailed analysis of tooling and equipment for manufacturing and assembly of structural components, mechanical/actuated systems, and hydraulic/fluid systemsServe as technical point of contact and responsible party for vendor-developed tooling projectsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering (minimum)At least 8 years of experience analyzing GSE or tooling in automotive, aerospace, or similar industryExperience creating and validating finite element models using Ansys or NX Simulation with NastranProven experience using 1D, 2D & 3D elements with models containing weldments, machined parts, and weldmentsProficiency in generating free-body diagrams to calculate internal loads and reaction forces, and simplifying complex structural problemsExtensive experience analyzing steel and aluminum tooling, including machining fixtures and weldments using hand calculationsProficiency in performing bolted joint hand calculations (bolt preload, joint stiffness, shear-tension interaction, insert pull-out, etc.)Proficiency in performing welded joint hand calculations (required size, length, effective throat, direct and resultant stress, and failure modes)Familiarity with applicable structural codes (AISC-360, ASME B30 & 31, ASME BTH-1, etc.)Demonstrated ability to earn trust, maintain professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionPreferred SkillsProfessional Engineer (PE) licensureProficiency with Creo and/or Siemens NX softwareStrong customer focus and excellent communication skillsDemonstrated track record of successful project deliveryAbility to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teamsSelf-motivated with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneouslyAbility to clearly communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
