Plus500 is looking for a full-time Senior Database Administrator to join the Itasca, IL office. Plus500 is a global multi-asset fintech group operating technology-based trading platforms. Plus500 offers customers a range of trading products, including Over-The-Counter ("OTC") and share dealing, as well as futures and options on futures in the US.The Position: Senior Database Administrator We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with proven expertise across both infrastructure and application database administration. Microsoft certifications (DP-300 or equivalent) are a plus.Job Requirements: 10–15 years of proven production database administration experienceDeep expertise in SQL Server architecture and internalsSolid knowledge of Always On Availability Groups and cluster architectureStrong T-SQL programming skillsProficiency with performance tuning tools (execution plans, Query Store, Extended Events, DMVs)Experience developing and testing backup and disaster recovery strategiesFamiliarity with ETL and data movement processesBasic knowledge of certificate management and encryptionFamiliarity with Azure SQL and cloud platforms is an advantageJob Responsibilities:Manage backups and test restores on a regular basisMonitor database health and events (deadlocks, blocking, etc.); investigate and resolve issuesMonitor SQL Agent jobs and rectify failuresOptimize table and index structuresUtilize features like partitioning as replacements for SQL jobs that delete dataEstablish encryption at rest and other requirements needed for SOC2 certificationEstablish database change procedures for the engineering team (tables, stored procedures, etc.)Establish and enforce database and stored procedure naming conventionsCreate runbooks for database-related incident managementBe available for response during catastrophic eventsSupport future BI projectsSoft Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; composed under pressureClear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersDetail-oriented with a strong sense of ownershipAble to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent initiatives
