R&D Technologist

Job Overview The R&D technologist is responsible for developing and optimizing formulations for new product development and implementing the diverse activities or projects designated by the R&D manager. Duties Plan and develop upgrades on current items/platforms based on internal and/or customer requirements. Create, plan and develop new products based on internal and/or customer requests, from formula design to packaging proposal. Design and conduct laboratory tests and industrial tests to achieve prototypes for specific projects. Support in the design of equipment or engineering needs to implement in new products. Perform shelf-life Studies and sensory evaluations. Record and analyze results and keep track of documentation related to projects. Provide support to R&D in testing the operating conditions for new products in coordination with the Production, Engineering, and QC Departments. Provide Operations, and R&D departments support on ad-hoc requirements. Conduct laboratory and plant testing to validate ingredients viability from new suppliers in current products and new categories. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have at least Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, food engineering, or a closely related field. At least post-secondary courses in food chemistry, food analysis, and food processing Knowledge of the Bakery is a plus. Must be able to work independently on concurrent projects assigned. Good research and laboratory skills. Considerable interpersonal skills are required to interact with internal and external customers. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Must possess the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers, function as a team player.
