Senior Accountant (Pinehurst)

Senior AccountantOur client who is rapidly growing is adding a Senior Accountant to support its expanding finance and accounting operations team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership and operations while contributing to the financial management of multiple projects.The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting along with experience in construction, real estate, or homebuilding environments. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys a hands-on role, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and can balance both day-to-day accounting responsibilities and analytical support.ResponsibilitiesManage core general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial reportingParticipate in month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reportingAnalyze construction costs, monitor project performance, and support WIP) work-in-progress reportingAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for ongoing projects and communitiesReconcile cash accounts, credit card activity, and other balance sheet accountsMaintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedulesCollaborate with construction and operations teams to support accurate job cost tracking and reportingSupport cash management activities and prepare related reportingCoordinate with outside auditors, lenders, and tax professionals as neededContribute to process improvements and enhancements to accounting procedures and controlsEnsure compliance with company policies and accounting standardsAssist leadership with special projects and operational analysis as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance4+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction, real estate, homebuilding, or a related industryUnderstanding of GAAP and financial reporting principlesExperience with job costing or project-based accounting preferredStrong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systemsHighly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environmentCPA designation or progress toward certification is a plusPreferred BackgroundResidential construction or land development industry experienceExperience working in entrepreneurial or small-to-mid-sized organizationsFamiliarity with construction accounting platforms such as Sage, Viewpoint, Buildertrend, or comparable systems
