Automatic Fire Systems, Inc., a leading fire protection and plumbing contractor with over 40 years of experience providing design engineering, fabrication, and installation services for fire sprinkler systems across Northern Illinois, Chicagoland, and Southern Wisconsin, is seeking qualified candidates for a Fire Sprinkler Engineering position.The ideal candidate should be a fast learner and will receive on-the-job training to develop a strong understanding of building codes and fire sprinkler systems.Engineer Responsibilities include:Design layoutSite surveysFabrication & material listingMaterial and equipment submittalsClose-out proceduresJob Description:Compiling submittal packages and Operations & Maintenance ManualsDesign and manage projects under the guidance of the Director of EngineeringPrepare material lists, complete pipe fabrication sheets, and compile all required information for the Foreman to initiate the jobAssist Engineers with on-site field surveys, perform fire hydrant flow tests, and attend construction progress meetings for various projectsThis is an entry-level position requiring strong PC skills. Proficiency in Windows-based AutoCAD design software is essential. Candidates should demonstrate problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, spatial orientation, and attention to detail. A strong work ethic and the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines are required. The ability to read construction plans is preferred. A valid driver’s license is also required.Job Requirements:Education, Training, & Experience:Bachelor's degree required or minimum 5 years experienceA background in construction is desiredProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team environmentProficiency in AutoCADWe offer competitive pay and opportunities for advancement.
