POSTING DETAILS LONGVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT NO 122 JOB DESCRIPTION 03.27.2026 #260327001 Job Description - HVAC Technician TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Location: Maintenance/Transportation Hours: 8 hrs per day/260 days per year Pay: $38.31 - $44.19 Supervisor: Manager of Operations Opening Date: 03.27.2026 Closing Date: Until Filled QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must hold a valid HVAC Journey Level Certificate, a valid HVAC journey level card, or have 5 years' experience as an HVAC technician. 3. Must have CFC certification. 4. Must have a Washington State low voltage electrical license. 5. Must have passed an HVACR national technician certification program. 6. Must have passed an EPA approved certification test and provide documentation of the type or level of certification classification, i.e., II, III, or IV. 7. Must be able to provide EPA approved refrigerant usage certification number (the number assigned after passing the EPA approved test.) 8. Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and be able to operate vehicles with a manual or automatic transmission. 9. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision. 10. Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned. 11. Must be able to proficiently communicate with people using correct oral and written language. 12. Must be courteous and diplomatic at all times, greeting customers in a professional manner. 13. Must service customers by answering inquiries, responding to special requests, and communicating changes in job progress. 14. Makes recommendations while solving customer problems. 15. Must be able to lift, handle, and carry heavy objects up to 75 pounds on occasion. 16. Must be able to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, walk, grasp and pull, perform repetitive motions such as twisting, and be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling. 17. Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Washington State approved first aid card. 18. Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces, i.e., tunnels, attics, crawl spaces, etc. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Communicates effectively with staff and the general public in a manner that promotes positive customer service relationships. 2. Repairs/replaces HVAC equipment including, but not limited to compressors, driers, evaporators, piping, filters, drives (including variable speed), electrical sensors, relays, heating and cooling coils, fans, various heaters, thermostats, valves, actuators, dampers, controls, refrigeration chillers, ducting and other associated components. 3. Diagnoses and repairs electrical, mechanical, safety and other problems associated with HVAC systems. 4. Makes new installations when required. 5. Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems throughout the District. 6. Performs all tasks in accordance with approved safety practice and in compliance with laws, regulations, and school district policies and procedures. 7. Maintains a current status on regulations and skill work pertaining to hazardous materials handling and disposal of items, including but not limited to CFC, compressors, and other regulated waste May serve as equipment operator if properly qualified and licensed. 8. Assists other craftsmen in performance of repairs as directed. 9. Reads with understanding manufacturer's maintenance guides, schematics and blueprints. 10. Accomplishes all necessary repairs, calibrations, adjustments and diagnostic protocol, both internal and external in order to maintain all systems and units in safe and efficient operating condition. 11. Oversees cleanliness of mechanical areas; ensures that materials are stored in an orderly manner. 12. Maintains all records required by federal, state and local authorities requiring compliance with Stratospheric Ozone Protection (EPA Final Rule Summary.) 13. Maintains current certifications and registration of all refrigerant recovery equipment with the EPA. 14. Maintains current certifications through an EPA approved testing organization for purchase and handling of refrigerants. 15. Maintains all forms and documentation associated with refrigerant management, storage and disbursement. 16. Such other job - related tasks as may be assigned.
