Model Room Dental Technician

Job Description Job Title: Model Room Technician Department:Dental Laboratory Reports To:Laboratory Manager / Production Supervisor Position Summary The Model Room Technician is responsible for the accurate pouring, trimming, articulation, and preparation of dental models used in the fabrication of crowns, bridges, implants, and orthodontic appliances. This role is critical in ensuring precision, quality, and timely case workflow within the dental laboratory. Key Responsibilities Receive and inspect incoming dental impressions and digital case prescriptions for completeness and accuracy Pour dental impressions using gypsum products (stone, plaster) according to laboratory protocols Trim and shape models to proper dimensions and specifications Mount and articulate cases using appropriate articulators and bite registrations Prepare and pin dies for crown and bridge cases Label, log, and track cases within the laboratory management system Maintain cleanliness and organization of the model room Monitor and maintain inventory of model room supplies Follow infection control, safety, and OSHA guidelines Communicate with technicians and supervisors regarding case requirements or discrepancies Assist with digital model printing and processing (if applicable) Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Prior dental laboratory experience preferred (model room experience a plus) Knowledge of dental materials and articulation techniques Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Basic computer skills for case tracking Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely Skills & Competencies Excellent hand-eye coordination Time management and organizational skills Quality-focused mindset Team-oriented attitude Ability to maintain consistency and accuracy under deadlines Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Frequent use of hands for detailed work Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Exposure to dust and dental materials (PPE provided)
