Claims Representative Trainee

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Claims Department as a Claims Representative Trainee.Position OverviewThe Claims Representative Trainee position is an entry-level role designed to learn the claims adjusting process through structured training and hands-on experience. Under the guidance of experienced claims professionals, the trainee develops foundational knowledge of coverage, investigation, customer communication, documentation, and claims systems while contributing to the overall efficiency of the Claims Department.Key ResponsibilitiesLearn and understand the full claims process, including claims terminology, coverage interpretation, investigations, reserving, negotiation practices, fraud recognition, subrogation potential, and legal considerationsReceive and review claim assignments from insureds under supervisionLearn how to adjust claims directly or assist with assignments to independent adjusterReceive training on proper customer service and professional communication standardsReview claim files to ensure adequate documentation to support claim decisions and paymentsLearn how to review insureds’ claims history and identify potential risk or coverage concernsAssist in maintaining accurate and organized claim documentationRespond to emergency after-hours calls as assignedWork collaboratively with other departments to support the smooth operation of the Claims DepartmentPerform other duties as assigned, consistent with the trainee nature of the roleQualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience relevant to property and casualty adjustingStrong verbal and written communication skills; extensive telephone contact requiredWillingness to learn technical insurance principles and claims proceduresDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneouslyProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or willingness to learn required systemsBenefitsCompetitive starting payPaid holidays, vacation, and sick leave403(b) retirement plan with company matchPaid life and AD&D insurance and long-term disability coveragePaid job-related training and continuing educationComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance36-hour work week with Friday afternoons offHybrid work schedule and flexible hours available after training periodRelaxed business casual dress codeCatholic Mutual Group is an equal opportunity employer.
