Structural Welder Location: Midland, TX Pay Rate: $25.50 – $41.57/hr Day Shift & Overnight Shift Available Shift Schedule Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM Overnight Shift: 5:00 PM – 4:00 AM Position Summary Apache Workforce is seeking experienced Structural Welders for a position in Midland, TX. Candidates must have structural welding experience and successfully complete the required welding qualification test. Weld Test Requirements Candidates will complete a 2G groove-weld coupon within a two-hour time limit. The qualification process includes: 1. Test Preparation Candidate identity and test coupon will be verified. WPS, machine calibration, joint geometry, root opening, bevel angle, tack welds, shielding gas, and flow rate will be checked. 2. Welding Test Complete the 2G groove-weld coupon within the two-hour time limit. Actual voltage, amperage, wire-feed speed, shielding gas, and gas flow will be recorded. 3. Visual Examination The completed coupon must pass visual examination in accordance with applicable AWS D1.1 requirements and SI Utility procedures. The weld may be rejected for unacceptable cracks, incomplete fusion, overlap, undercut, porosity, arc strikes, or unacceptable weld profile/dimensions. 4. Guided Bend Testing Only coupons that pass the visual examination will proceed to guided bend testing. Specimen type, quantity, preparation, and acceptance criteria will follow the applicable AWS D1.1 requirements and SI Utility procedures. 5. Final Qualification Candidates must pass both the visual examination and guided bend testing to qualify. The final result and qualification limits will be documented by the examiner. Key Responsibilities Assemble, fabricate, and fit structural metal components for steel utility poles. Read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Measure, cut, shape, and fit metal components using a variety of tools and machinery. Weld and bolt materials together to build frameworks and supports according to specifications. Align and fit parts precisely using appropriate measuring and leveling tools. Inspect completed assemblies for conformance to design specifications and AWS D1.1 quality standards. Operate welding equipment and other fabrication tools safely and efficiently. Identify and correct welding or fabrication defects as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times. Follow all company safety procedures, welding procedures, and quality standards.
