JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Accountant
SUMMARY
Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial! information and prepare financial reports and assures day to day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANO RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare accounting reports and journal entries to accounts, documenting business transactions.
Analyzes, reconciles and interprets general ledger accounts related to financial data detailing assets, liabilities and fund balances, and maintains ledgers and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected District financial
Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and District
Reviews documents and coordinates implementation of modifying accounting and reporting systems and accounting control
Provides solutions to problems presented and recommends changes to system for general accounting utilizing knowledge of
accounting principles and practices.
Interprets accounting data, analyzes reports and makes recommendations regarding the budgetary accounting of revenues and expenditures
Researches, analyzes and uses independent judgment in a variety of daily and non-routine decisions effecting the accounting
Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state and local
Provides technical advice and services to management or other District staff with problems, complex issues or special
1O. Reviews and adjusts budgetary funds as needed.
Assist with the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Comptroller and the School Business
QUA LI FICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In addition, this position requires an individual with strong time management skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting from a four-year college (equivalent credits and/or experience is acceptable) and two years related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general ledger, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to prepare detailed reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the Comptroller and the School Business Administrator.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform detailed numerical computations with skill in the use of computer hardware and software.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
Terms of Employment
Twelve (12) months; non-tenurable
Contractual terms and salary to be determined by the Board Evaluated by the Comptroller at least once per academic year.
