Computer Engineer
The Computer Engineer II performs engineering work involving research, design, development, testing, and evaluation of computer hardware, software, and integrated systems. The role supports tasks across the system lifecycle, applying principles of computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, and systems engineering to develop effective computing solutions. Responsibilities include hardware design, software development, network engineering, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.General Duties:Design, develop, test, and evaluate computer hardware components including chips, circuit boards, processors, and peripheral devicesDevelop, test, and evaluate computer software systems supporting hardware and network operationsDesign algorithms, data structures, and software architectures based on user and system requirementsAnalyze user needs and develop new software applications or system-level solutionsSupport development and testing of computer networks, distributed systems, and communication protocolsConduct system integration, troubleshooting, and performance optimizationApply programming languages such as C, C++, Java; familiarity with Fortran or COBOL is beneficialPrepare engineering reports, design specifications, test documentation, and technical presentationsCollaborate with engineers, developers, technicians, and program teamsParticipate in technical reviews, requirements discussions, and engineering working groupsRequired Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics (with concentration in computer science), or a related disciplineRequired Experience:3 years of professional experience in computer design, software development, or computer networksSkills & Competencies:Strong understanding of computer hardware and software engineering principlesProficiency in programming languages (C, C++, Java)Experience with system design, testing, troubleshooting, and integrationStrong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and in engineering teamsEffective communication and technical documentation skillsWhat Your Experience Working for Us Will Be LikeAsk any of our employees and they will tell you SSI is a great place to work with an upbeat and positive culture.
