SIGN-ON BONUSThe successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at time of hire and $500 paid at the end of 90 days of employment.Reporting to the Supervisor of Carpentry, Paint and Lock Shop, the Painter performs painting duties to support the maintenance needs of the Deerfield Academy campus buildings, dormitories, and residential spaces.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for painting and related tasks to support the maintenance and upkeep of the campus, including painting/coating/wallpapering of walls, ceilings, floors, doors/windows, furniture, and siding. Ensure a high quality of workmanship.Prepare surfaces for painting/coating or wall papering (wood, drywall, plaster, metal, concrete, brick, etc) by recognized procedures and techniques of the painting trade, including tape/mud/sanding on drywall and similar for plaster.Make minor repairs as appropriateEnsure the proper handling, storage and labelling of unused paints, cleaning solutions etc. and collaborate with the Environmental Health & Safety Manager to ensure proper disposal.Responsible for protection of all surfaces and surrounding areas, including removal/reinstallation of hardware/fixtures that are in the work areaPerform light carpentry and maintenance tasks as requested in support of the Carpentry, Paint and Lock shopCollaborate with other trades as necessaryEnsure painting/wallpapering etc. tasks are completed at appropriate sequence in the overall project and are executed in a timely mannerFollow all established protocol for work requests and completion of tasks as requested to ensure consistency and work order trackingAttend professional development classes to expand knowledge of the trade and any changes within the tradeUtilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all timesComply with all Academy Safety Program policies and procedures while performing job duties, both on and off Academy property.
