Regional HSE Specialist
Job DescriptionSUMMARY:SP Industries, Inc is looking for a Regional HSE Specialist that can successfully build safety programs in two locations: Warminster, PA & Gardiner, NY. This person must be able to demonstrate working through multiple leadership teams to accomplish goals and drive safety improvements.RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish and support regional HSE programsServe as core member of Site Leadership TeamsManage all HSE Events, Near Misses, and Hazard Identifications in VelocityFacilitate/assist in HSE Event Investigations & Root Cause AnalysisCoordinate successful completion of internal audit action itemsIdentify, evaluate, and assist in correcting workplace hazardsManage PPE program for each facilityFacilitate productive JHSC meetings, engaging the team in safety processesProvide guidance and assistance in risk assessments of work processesProvide instructor led-training to all necessary employeesDrive completion of annual HSE plan for facilityAssist in problem solving using ABM toolsEXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:Proven success in multi-facility role dealing with multiple site leadership teams. Ability to travel ~33%Experience with managing incidents and conducting root cause analysis to determine proper corrective actionsExperience in a lean systems environment preferredExperience with Human & Organization Performance preferredMust be able to successfully navigate digital environmentEDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or Business, plus > 3 years of HSE experience working in a manufacturing environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are typical of those an employee might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.Work is normally performed in both the office and the shop. The office environment is an interior office with air conditioning. The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages. The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas. The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned. Some shop processes use high voltage arcs or concentrated magnetic fields. The shop contains open flames and caustic chemicals. Some areas of the shop may be designated as hard hat zones. Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000HSENon-Management: All employees have the responsibility to work in a safe manner and report any health, safety or environmental concern to their manager or supervisor in a timely manner.Employee responsibilities for Health, Safety and Environment include:Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental proceduresRefrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methodsReport any unsafe conditions or unsafe actsReport defect in any equipment or protective deviceEnsure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasksAttend all required health, safety and environmental trainingReport any accidents/incidents to supervisorAssist in investigating accidents/incidentsRefrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conductManagers:All managers are responsible for creating a positive safety culture and maintaining a safand healthy workplace. It is the responsibility of each manager to ensure that employees.receive regular training regarding health, safety and environmental matters. Eachmanager is also accountable to ensure that HSE matters are addressed in a timely manner.and that compliance with both legislative and corporate requirements are maintained.Manager responsibilities for Health, Safety and Environment include:Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment complianceHold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review processEnsure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintainedCarry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirementsEnsure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established training matrixImplement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe actsEnsure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe conditionProvide information, instruction and supervision to employeesTake every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employeesSupervisors:Supervisors are responsible for promoting, monitoring and enforcing work practices which support the prevention of workplace illness and injury, as well as protection of the environment.Supervisor responsibilities for Health, Safety and Environment include:Ensure that equipment, materials and protective devices are functioning in a safe mannerEnsure that employees are working in accordance with divisional health and safety proceduresApplies progressive discipline as appropriate for health, safety and/or environmental violationsAdvise employees of the existence of any potential or actual health and safety risksProvide appropriate instruction for safe workTake every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employeesConduct periodic inspections and audits in accordance with legislative and/or corporate requirementsConduct accident/incident investigations, prepare necessary reports and communicate to line management, health and safety personnel and health and safety committeeEnsure that all employees, including temporary workers and contractors, adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipmentSupport activities and initiatives outlined by the Joint Health and Safety Committee
