Deep South Today is a nonprofit network of local newsrooms that includes Mississippi Today , Verite News in New Orleans and The Current in Lafayette . With its regional scale and scope, Deep South Today is rebuilding and re-energizing local journalism in communities where it has eroded, ensuring its long-term growth and sustainability. By combining deep local reporting with a centralized business infrastructure, our network allows journalists to focus on the critical needs of their communities while building a model for newsroom innovation and public service.Deep South Today is seeking a motivated and dynamic contract sales associate focused on selling sponsorships and advertising to local businesses, corporations, higher education institutions and other organizations in Louisiana and Mississippi.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProspect, develop and maintain strong relationships with organizations who want to reach the Deep South Today's network of dynamic, differentiated audiences through advertising and sponsorshipsSell advertising and sponsorship opportunities that align with Deep South Today's mission and valuesCraft compelling sales proposals and presentations tailored to the specific needs of clientsCollaborate with editorial, events and marketing teams to identify and create new revenue opportunitiesRelationship Management & FulfillmentCoordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of advertising and sponsorship commitmentsTrack, analyze and report on sales performance to optimize future efforts and meet targetsMaintain accurate records of client interactions and community outreach in our CRMServe as a visible and active ambassador for Deep South Today and its newsroomsRequirementsMission Alignment: A passion for local journalism and its role in promoting democracy and transparencyCommunication: Excellent interpersonal and professional-level written and verbal communication skillsAutonomy: Capable of working independently with minimal direction and as part of a collaborative teamOrganization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlinesAdaptability: Motivated self-starter who is open to new ideas and thrives in a fast-paced environmentQualificationsPrevious experience in media sales is preferredProficiency with tools like Google Workspace, Monday.com, Salesforce or other CRM platforms is a plusDeep familiarity with the New Orleans and/or Mississippi business landscape and community stakeholdersAbility to effectively present information to executives and business leadersLocation: Remote/HybridCompensation: $4,000 per month plus commission starting at 15%How to ApplyWe're committed to building an inclusive company that represents the people and communities we serve.
