Prevention Specialist

Full-time, grant-funded, position responsible for coordinating programs and activities designed to increase public awareness and understanding of the problems, issues and services available related to substance use, particularly opioid related activities, as well as other behavioral health issues. This Prevention Specialist will be responsible for coordinating projects for the ECHO (Empowering Communities for Healthy Outcomes) Grant, which may include planning and executing alternative events, assisting with the Youth Board of Pickens County’s “But They Don’t” podcast, teaching Prevention Educational Classes as well as working with the Alcohol Enforcement Teams, planning, executing and providing prevention educational and other community presentations/events.This position will require a bachelor’s degree in social or health sciences strongly preferred; a general liberal arts background may also be considered and one (1) year experience in prevention services is desired, preferably in the field of substance use or other behavioral health area. Master’s degree in related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be eligible to be certified as a Prevention Specialist in South Carolina.
