Network Engineer III - DevOps

The Network Engineer III - DevOps primary focuses on utilizing and building code to enable automation, visibility, and reliability maturity for QTS' infrastructure and applications. This role will utilize state of the art technology to deploy, automate, manage, and troubleshoot all of QTS' Technology Infrastructure. This role will work cross departmentally on enterprise wide technology projects in support of QTS' ongoing digital transformation goals and utilize an agile framework to provide world-class results. This role requires a broad understanding of various technologies and the ability to think creatively and use advanced problem solving skills to create innovative solutions to any QTS technology problem – to include Data Center Infrastructure Management, Technology Operations, Service Delivery Platform, and Enterprise IT. This position requires skills, motivation and experience to serve as a member of a highly functional team to deliver superior, predictable and reliable services in a dynamic IT service provider environment.RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.Streamline automation, visibility, and reliability improvements for QTS technology. Able to work across multiple programming languages, third party tools and integrations, and software and hardwareEstablish and meet SLOs on reliability for QTS products and infrastructureEnsure that operational technologies are integrated within QTS monitoring tools to increase visibility of potential issues to proactively reduce risk and & maximize the availability of IT infrastructure & services while improving Mean Time to Restore during outagesDiagnose, troubleshoot and resolve external customer and QTS Network issuesFacilitates meetings to determine feature design requirements from stakeholdersSupports organizational change management by providing platform trainingSupports platform roadmap planningManage vendors and evaluate new technologiesPlan and document MOPs and engineering standards. Manage lifecycle of assigned devices and provide associated budget inputsEvangelize and implement an "automation first" mindset. Brief executives regularly on improvementsDesign, build, and maintain network infrastructure using modern networking technologies and practices.Develop within a CI/CD framework that reduces toil for repeatable tasksAutomate network configurations and deployments using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, or similarCollaborate with network engineering teams to implement and optimize network solutions based on business requirementsImplement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, access control lists, and intrusion detection systems.Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network automation and software-defined networking (SDN).Provide training and mentorship to Level I and II Network EngineersBASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experienceSeven or more years of network engineering experienceStrong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, SDN, and cloud networkingCCNAUS Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contractsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working in a Data Center environmentPythonAnsiblePowerShellJavaScript/JSON/REST APIOr equivalent engineering professional certification for a relevant DevOps/SRE technologyCCNP or CCIEKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESThinking, analytical, and problem solving skillsAbility to solve multi-faceted complex problems.Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills - Ability to interface with all levels of the organization and customers with varied levels of technical knowledge.Excellent written communication skillsAbility to work well within a team environment in a matrixed organization.Flexibility; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, interrupt-driven environmentExpert ability to write infrastructure as code and manage updates to associated playbooks and code repositories via best practice Agile and release managementExpert understanding of scripting (e.g, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, etc.)Proficient ability to configure network virtualization technologies (NSX)Proficient understanding of BGP peering, HSRP and IP subnettingProficient understanding of SNMP, SMTP, DHCP, DNSProficient in utilizing CI/CD and orchestration tool(s) in support of code testing and automation (Jenkins, Chef, Ansible Tower)Proficient in developing monitoring solutions across various technologies that increase overall system reliabilityProficient in understanding, integrating, and developing API based solutionsWe conform to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning equal employment opportunities and affirmative action.
