Procurement Specialist
Position summary:
This Procurement Specialist role is responsible for purchasing yarn, the largest raw material.
Educational requirements:
Four Year College degree, or in lieu of BA/BS degree, will consider 8+ years of experience in functional area.
CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or commitment to become certified within two years of employment.
High School Diploma Required
Skills and experience:
Proven negotiation skills
Good communication skills, verbal and written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills in Lotus and Microsoft applications working with Pivot tables, V look ups, linking spreadsheets, formula and spreadsheet creations.
A minimum of three years purchasing experience in a direct purchasing role. Will consider experience in a direct planning role.
Experience conducting supplier meetings for business reviews, issue resolution, etc.…. (need to demonstrate experience with supplier relations and management)
Forecasting and inventory management skills preferred
Must be able to work independently, handle multiple tasks and projects, and work well under pressure of deadlines.
Essential duties:
Forecast yarn purchases.
Purchase yarn in the most cost-effective manner while also maintaining inventory levels and service requirements.
Vendor management including service, improvement and sustainability initiatives, and setting clear expectations with yarn supplier(s)
Work closely with our Planning Department to ensure yarn delivery when required.
Set and publish metrics for performance indicators.
Minimize yarn inventory and turns through strategic purchasing.
Analyze yarn usage to minimize obsolete yarn.
Manage Supplier contracts.
Work with internal stakeholders and suppliers to maintain competitive pricing (in terms of upcharges from base price), service, and quality.
Maintain communications with internal stakeholders.
Work closely with key suppliers to understand the market and ensure continuity of supply.
Work with the Global Procurement Specialist to understand global projects that will affect the local spend and to communicate local projects that may be global opportunities.
Conduct supplier meetings where required.
Facilitate resolution supplier invoicing issues.
Perform as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Auditor.
Maintain housekeeping.
Comply with safety rules.
Comply with environmental regulations.
Be aware of departmental Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Perform other duties as assigned.
